Shrek and I Have something in Common.
#1
Woke up about 7:30 this morning and could barely hear out of my left ear. Murine Drops and the water plunger (turkey baster) worked great. However, I think between the chunk of ear wax out of the left ear followed by the right ear could of made a nice tea candle. BLAH.

"I," not "myself." And that's all information I didn't need to hear. Love Shrek, though--number 3 comes out this year.

I clean mine everyday. Usually not even a noticeable amount on the Q-Tip head.

Sometimes there's a little too much information on this forum and you don't find out until it's too late to ignore it! Smile

Next we'll find out someone takes their belly button lint and spins it into clothes for their family..

Smile Sorry guys. I used to have TONS of ear infections and had tubes in my ears when I was young. The doctor always told me to NOT use Q-tips and not to stick anything smaller than my elbow into my ear. So, I just rinse them out once a day in the shower. Obviously, that doesn't help so I might need to start using Q-tips very carefully.

Why not use Q-tips? If I have not had any adverse problems in 30+ years, I think I am okay.

I clean my ears with q-tips all the time...
Being an avid shooter, I wear earplugs a lot, and they get grimey, and then the grime goes in my ears... hence the need for cleaning.

Rinse ears in shower.
And then use qtip in ear, GENTLY.... While you'e standing STILL. with no one else around that might jostle you into shoving it through your eardrum.
gentle twisting motion...
If you can HEAR the qtip against your eardrum... STOP.. you've gone in too deep Smile

It might be over-paranoid on my part, but I never touch the end of the qtip before use.. the idea is to get stuff OUT of my ears, not shove germs IN my ear.

I agree in principle with being very VERY careful near your eardrum...
But for some of us, we DO kinda need to clean our ears out a little more agressively than the standard rinse... That requires something smaller than an elbow.

As noted. My wife's best friend punctured her eardrum last year because she fell in the bathroom while cleaning her ear out with a Q-tip. And jammed it too far in (ouch).
I'm always careful, but I guess S* happens.
