I know it was discussed a few months ago, but it was time for my yearly call to SiriusXM because my rate was going up.
I chatted online (at first with a chatbot but transferred to a live agent). Their current promotion is $8.49 per month- all in price with taxes and Royalty fees. It's a month to month, so can cancel at any time.
This is actually less than I was paying before, so I was really happy.

I recently just renewed at $4.99 a month plus tax and royalty or about $6 per month for 12 months. It took just a quick interaction with the chatbot to get that. I kept asking for the 3 years for $99 offer but they would not give me that.
Sirius XM has become more of a necessity since Verizon cell service is so terrible in our area these days, so no streaming of Apple or Spotify.

S/XM was recently added to Teslas, but they force anyone to sign up as if it's a new account. Many OLD subscribers are not happy about it, particularly those with lifetime subscriptions that kept the company afloat in the early days.

I use the app on my phone more than I use it in the car. Will Tesla let you bluetooth it? Or would that just be imitation crab meat?

There’s no way for them to know you are Bluetoothing it.

My wife just found it on her model 3. She has been using the app on her iPhone in the car previously. She said she was able to use it through our normal XM subscription so far but I told her to look into it as I suspect they will try to force their own bundled subscription on her.
ztirffritz is correct: SiriusXM does intend to force existing customers to sign up for new accounts for use in their Teslas. See the caption for photo #3:

They are offering a two-year promotional price of $9.99/mo for the service - after that, they intend to charge $24.98/mo:

So... they will charge Tesla customers the same $24.98 they charge satellite radio customers... for the exact same streaming service they charge non-Tesla customers $9.99 for?
Screw that.
I was really excited about getting the SiriusXM app in my Tesla but it looks like I won't be using it.

Again. Why can't it just be streamed from a phone? I do that all the time in other cars via bluetooth.
