I guess it's not really irony...or is it?

I'm sure it's been brought up before (I get tired of reading all the crap), but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the economy was just a convenient excuse or diversion from the problem that 99% of his supporters found as a reason to vote for him. That being immigration.

Supposedly the big problem is all the immigrant criminals coming into the country. The facts have proven that the overwhelming majority of immigrants are not criminals, but simply hard working people trying to improve their lives. But as a result of these stupid deportation declarations, the only illegal immigrants who will be able to stay in the country or get into this country will be the wealthy criminals who can afford the fake IDs and Social Security numbers, or grease enough palms so that the officials will look the other way as they open the door.

Apologies if this has all been discussed before. I may not have been paying attention.

Why would he needs an excuse or diversion if 99% were going to vote for him anyway based on immigration?

But yes, I see your point. Probably hard working, law abiding (I mean all the laws except immigration) people will be deported. The irony is that real criminal will stay (in jail) or will be deported before they face US justice.

My grief is with Biden administration. they knew exactly what Trump was going to say about immigration. Why didn't they try to stop illegal immigration and at least pretend to do some deportations, at least those accused of violence, shoplifting, petty crimes, DUI, etc.

This is nonsense. The Southern border was quiet when Trump took office due to stepped up efforts by Mexico and the Biden administration.
What you heard from Trump regarding immigration and immigrants was mostly lies. And he'll keep lying next 4 years.

Exactly. The fact that some on the left are thinking like this shows how pervasive Trump’s lies have been. In fact the southern border issues over the last two decades have improved. Trump just wove a fictitious story to get elected (as was the case with all his other campaign issues). One should expect no less from a politician who lies so much.

And, don't forget the bipartisan immigration bill that Lord Emperor Trump ordered crushed. The Biden administration came closest to tackling a problem that's been being kicked down the road for half a century, but nope.

Acer beat me to it.

Almost as much as anything he's done or threatened to do, that move in and of itself really pisses me off.

He didn't need an excuse. I'm positing that 99% of the idiots who voted for him used the economy and the price of bread as the reason they voted for him when it was really that they were sick of "all the immigrants."

But Biden issued an executive order sometimes in 2024. Why not in 2021 or 2022?

He and the democrats in congress tried to fix it with legislation. and they had the legislation until Trump torpedoed it.

Do some googling. Biden did try. His efforts were stymied by Republicans.

U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021

Also, the right continuously posted how many illegal immigrants were arrested at the border, choosing to see that as proving how many people were streaming in instead of the reality of how many people were being stopped. These guys are masters at messaging.
