You just can't imagine how scary that was on the big screen for the first time. Horror movies don't scare me, but Jaws sure did. And it DOES still hold up so well.

I never heard of this movie until y'all just mentioned it here. So my curiosity got the better of me and I had to IMDB it. Sounds interesting from all the reviews. Apparently it was a big hit in its day (and perhaps to this day), becoming somewhat a cultural icon. I'll try to give it a looksee some time.

Saw Jaws for the first time in a drive-in theater with several of my sisters and brothers. When the shark first appeared my sister was holding the 32oz pop. We all jumped and the soda and popcorn were propelled straight up on to the headliner of the car. Sticky soda rained down mixed with soggy salty popcorn....it was a very memorable movie.

OK man... take this in the spirit of good natured camaraderie... but; Have you been living in a freakin' CAVE for 30 years!?!?! What the 'ell kind of mongolian steppe have you been camped on not to have even HEARD of the movie JAWS! Dude... have you heard of some other movies of the last 30 years; Star Wars Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Ringing any bells here? Somebody strap this man in a chair with a DVD player and a 60" plasma! Stat! ![]() All in good fun, Carnos... Seriously, Dark house... Big TV.. DVD of Jaws.. Plate of fish-sticks.... You're gonna enjoy it. (overlook the slightly "old" looking special effects... )

That movie was quite a cultural phenomenon when it came out. I was too young (8) to see it in the theaters, but I saw it the first time it was on TV when I was 12 or 13 and it scared the holy living hell out of me that night and for years thereafter. Watching [you-know-who] yell as the shark munched him from the feet up...yikes, it still gives me the heebie-jeebies.

I saw Jaws in my early teens also... on TV..
I sorta doubt I'll even swim in the ocean again any place where there's sharks. (at least that I know of).

But just to set the record straight in regard to my earlier post, in the words of Triumph the dog..."I keed, I keed". Thanks Paul, that was well written. (^_^) |
