Gas can recommendations please

Renting a sit on brush cutter this weekend, will probably need a gas can to fill it. Haven’t had a gas can in years, any recommendations from you folks?

Unfortunately the current gasoline cans are all a pain in the tush to use with a “safety” nozzle that ends up spilling more gas than it saves in vapor. I bought one and bypassed the valve system.

whatever HD/lowes/HF/Ace has... they are all about the same.

Most all have spouts that need 2 hands to use -- I have one from lowes with a squeeze trigger, pretty nice, no spills and variable flow. Id buy one again.

For a one-time use, get a cheapie. The good ones (Justrite, Eagle) are going to be more than you want to spend.

Still find the old metal gas cans at garage sales. The “cheap” new plastic ones go for just under $30. Try before you buy as some are quite un handy. Also, get a nice funnel with a wire screen in it. Worth it.

The spill-proof nozzles on the new cans are just really awful, in my (limited) experience. I spill gas everywhere trying to get them to work.

The very first Temu purchase I made several years ago was for a 3-pack of replacement nozzles that were like we all grew up with for something like $5 (probably be $15 now with tariffs!).

That won't help you this weekend, however. I'd probably just buy whatever Walmart has and struggle through it.

If you have to get a new spill proof can, which in reality will result in spills, don't use the spout. If you can't get a spout off of amazon, get a large funnel and use that without the spout.

If you were going to need a can for long term use, go buy a good metal gas can with the funnel.

Being careful, I've had very good success with this recent purchase. I use it for camping so I don't want ANY spillage in my car. I still put it in a box to catch any leakage. So far, no leaks while driving and 100% success in pouring without a mess.

I bought a 5l and 10l and they have been very good for me...

For limited use, I'd check the local Craigslist or FB Marketplace, heeding all the usual precautions.
