Cactus flowers

SEVEN BLOOMS this year - these flowers live for one day. They will shrivel up by 4pm. (I entered wide maximums, but they didn't take, but at least in Brave, the pics resize to fit the window - let me know if you have problems seeing

Very nice! The pics show up Firefox without issue. What kind of cactus are they from?

They remind me a little of ice plant flowers.

I have no idea - it started as a little ball and grew into a pile of prickly balls

Gorgeous! But if the flowers only live for a day, then I wonder what purpose they serve-- doesn't seem long enough for a pollinator to do anything with them?

they were certainly getting attention from bees while they were open...

Yeah, reading about this, it seems that a day is long enough for the pollinators to get to it... especially the night pollinators. Amazing.
