Good Friday; do you have the day OFF?

I have the day off, I am not sure of most people get the day off or not. Do you???

However, this turned out not to be a very good day for me:

-I am home alone cooking an East European dish, (sarmale), and I think I spilled some juice in the oven, cause there is black smoke coming out everywhere, smoke alarm beeping everywhere, it's a pandemonium in here.
-wife just called, she lost both rings, she found the wedding ring, but not the engagement ring.
-last night I just learned that I may have screwed up my Adjustment of Status application (AOS or I-485) which may cause a 6 month delay until they take a decision.

Oh well, at least we have some good friends coming over for Easter, and I hope I can salvage those sarmale...

Nope, don't get any of the "minor" holidays off. Christmas, new years, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving. That is it.

Nope - but when I got to work I saw a friend who lives in Louisiana online and queried him - he had the day off for Good Friday.

I've been off all week. Had to have another injection into my lower back. I may take next week off too.

Fridays and Saturdays are my days off during the school year anyways. But I work for a puplic university, they studiously avoid observing any religious holidays other than Chrsitmas which has become a secular national holiday. So if I was scheduled to work today I would not have it off.

Xmas, 1/1, Memorial Day, Labour day, Thanxgiving, + 1 other holiday of my choice (has to be a National or State holiday )

Edit: seems to be the same deal as UPS. (except I also work Saturdays)

I have Good Friday and Easter Monday off. They asked me to come in and work Monday but I do not think so. If I go in it would be 2.5 times my hourly rate. If I stay home I get paid for the holiday anyway. I just do not get enough time off as it is. I could almost pay them for the day off.
