I grew up on Fleetwood Mac and have always had a lot of respect for LB, but at 37 (and with some embarrassment at my tardiness) am discovering his amazing solo work. I just ordered his newest album, Under the Skin. What are your favorites of his albums? I need to know what to get next. TIA.
He came to my town a few months ago and I could kick myself for missing the show.

I have all his solo albums and the last few Mac albums are his. He is the best rock guitarist in the World. My favs are "Going Insane" and "She looks a lot like you." What a talent! Stevie's solo albums are pretty good too but I think Lindsey is involved there. Good stuff. It ain't heavy metal it's art.

Aye, I also thought the last Mac album was his. Having that was what really drove me to investigate his solo stuff. Thanks for the tips.

Check some of the torrent sites for "Gift Of Screws", a solo album he was working on that got shelved for FM's "Say You Will". The official story is that Buckingham willingly nixed the record and used several songs on the FM album but excellent-sounding versions with professional cover art exist out there so I'm guessing Buckingham turned a blind eye to the unofficial release so that his fans could hear how he really intended to present his music.

The whole group was staying at LAX Sheraton. I sneaked into the bar next to the restaurant I worked to see Stevie, Fleetwood, John and Christine. Lindsey was reclusive.

I have Go Insane and Out of the Cradle. The former is a bit more adventurous or ethereal, the latter more "accessible" and pop-ish. You need both, and original used CDs via Amazon should be cheap. If you've got a nice turntable and can kind the vinyl in good shape so much the better perhaps.
The intro and first song on Cradle, Don't Look Down, is fantastic stuff. It really cooks.
I heard him on Conan O'Brien or one of those shows a couple of weeks ago but there was noise in the room but it still sounded interesting. Think I'll go and check out some samples ...

Great song but it was Peter Green and predated Buckingham joining the band by 5 or 6 years.
They still played it in concert and Buckingham did a fine"cover job" but Peter Green owned it !
I think Buckingham is a fine guitarist but Fleetwood Mac was incredible with Green and the original lineup
(but I'm more of a blues fan than pop)
