It's 10:04PM and I have just finished.

After 10 months of work, my thesis/creative project is finished. I defend tomorrow at 11am. Hopefully everything will go well and my committee will have very few tweaks, if any, before submission to the grad school on Wednesday. It was a little odd in the office when I powered down my server and iMac after they've been running hard for the past two weeks straight. I had become used to the mild roar of fans on high speed and the sound of quiet was a peaceful celebration.

Tomorrow should bring about the real celebration!

Can you tell us what it's about? (your thesis)

So, the advisors that sit on your panel will have read the thesis between 10:04pm on Easter Sunday and 11am the next day? These are very accomodating professors you have there.

Congratulations! What an accomplishment! Anyone that has been in that situation can understand the relief that you feel. Of course the profs have been reading it (tearing it apart?) page by page as you have been working on it, so there shouldn't be too many changes that will need to be made. Good Luck! Dave

My thesis/creative project documented the life of the over-the-road trucker and how deregulation has changed the industry since the 1970's. The masters program I am in allows for a thesis in one of two forms: Paper (research study) or Creative Project. I chose the latter, opting to do a DVD that encompasses 4,000 miles worth of travel in a 30-minute documentary, photo journals, audio recordings and video short stories. The paper supplement is 65 pages and discusses the research I did in addition to the traveling. It was a fun project and I had a great time learning about this culture that is disappearing as drivers are now taught in cookie-cutter training schools instead of the apprenticeships from before deregulation.

I defend tomorrow but turn in on Wednesday. If they have tweaks for me then, I have to get them done by Wednesday. For the most part they ARE very accommodating, but no 12-hour turn-arounds.
