Smoke from Georgia wildfires has reached Birmingham
#1
I saw on the evening news yesterday that Atlanta was cloaked in smoke from the wildfires burning down near the Florida line. A satellite view showed the smoke. This morning I smelled smoke as soon as I left the house then saw that the air over Birmingham was thicker than usual.

It's gonna be a long, hot summer in Dixie!

We had it last week too. I walked out of my apt and thought the buildling was on fire. Then I smelled the same smell at work 7 miles away.

Flying to NY last weekend, the sight of the smoke for 500 miles was unbelivable.

We did indeed have it in the northern suburbs of Atlanta yesterday. We thought at first that someone in the area was burning brush and then found out it was the wildfire smoke.

I'm in Panama City for a few days. For a while last night it was like sitting a few feet from a campfire.

i'm south of Atlanta and though yesterday seemed slightly hazy, i was surprised at the commotion on the news about smoke. i kept walking outside trying to smell something but no go. my son couldn't either. at any rate, i told him not to be outside as much as he usually is and ditched our evening bike ride.

It was pretty bad yesterday morning but "burned off" by lunch time.

Anyone on here further south near Jacksonville care to share how the area is doing smoke-wise? It's closer to the fires but also closer to the coast.

Anyone got I-75 conditions from Florida line north to Atlanta? I'm suppose to drive there tomorrow.
