Dead Smurf :-(

Damn,

My son just called to say that the Smurf at his moms house (were he lives and does his homework 90% of the time...that is when he DOES his homework) is dead.

He came home from school today and tried to wake the monitor up and got nothing.

After an extensive round of troubleshooting it appears that the logic board has gone to the big Smurf Box in the sky...

Does anybody have a logic board that they would be willing to sell him for the cost of shipping? (he pays for all his computer stuff with his own money) shipping would be to SoCal.

I have a Rev 1 B&W board sitting idle in a case. I think the Rev1's don't play nice with
2 hard drives attached to the motherboard IDE. Other than that, it's his if he wants.

Why not surprise him with a Sawtooth G4 350-450?

You get a G4, AGP graphics, FW bootable, all of his peripherals should work... and they aren't too hard to find for around $100 dollars (plus shipping if it's not local) these days.

Weren't there some Rev 2 logic boards available at OWC, in the Garage Sale?

I have a Rev 1 board here somewhere, but I think giving it to your kid would border on child abuse.
