FU: iBook Logic Board problem
#1
Original thread, "Yet another... eBay question" - http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/299...msg-299448

Told him the suggestions from that thread and that we'd work out the refund if things didn't work in the end. Heard back from the buyer in Italy today - here's what he had to say -

"Hi, i can answer only now, i tryed to run the system without additional ram but is the same, i send you the pictures of my ibook, if i put a fan like you see the laptop work well all days (i checked with a render with final cut and it worked one day under pressure) if i leave the fun this zone and this component are very very hot and after 10 min the laptop go in off

sorry for my bad english, i hope you understanded

do you know what i must check for solve this problem? (voltage ecc..), i
have another board for components"

Only one picture (of two) of his setup that came through -

So other than telling him to put the bottom of the case on, if he has one... anyone else have other thoughts? Thanks - Z

Until he puts the motherboard shielding on and the rest of the case together all bets are off!

The laptop needs to have all of the parts installed to function properly!

Did the logic board have the heatsink and frame/stiffener installed when you shipped it?

If not then how do you know that he installed the required thermal pad between the processor and heatsink?

At this point I would not offer him any kind of a refund since he has obviously been running the board without all of the designed components installed!

What else has he done to it that he's not told you about???

The laptop was not designed to function like that. I agree. No refund because he's not using it as it was designed to be used.

As everyone else has said...He didn't put it together properly. He should have bench tested it like that if he wanted to make sure it booted, then immediately shut it off and put it back together correctly. The guy is an idiot. No refund.
