Okay so I stopped by TJ Maxx after work today and there's this 14-year-old kid and his mom in the young men's section. Kid is trying on various jackets/shirts/sweatshirts and discarding them indiscriminately...not hanging them back up, just kind of tossing them around on the racks and some things even on the floor. I probably wouldn't care if it was just one or two items but this kid really made a mess (and a lot of extra work for the employees) of that whole department...then I ran into them later near the Home department and the kid was still leaving a trail of havoc. Mom was apparently oblivious to all this.
I came "this close" to tactfully saying something to him/his mom...but I did not. Given the same situation again, I WILL say something. Yeah, in the big scheme of things maybe it's no big deal, but what bugs me is this kid (and his mom) left a HUGE mess which makes it harder/annoying for the rest of us to shop not to mention the extra work for the clerks.
I did say something to the checkout gal, and she said, yeah, a LOT of people do that and the clerks and managers find it even more annoying than I do. Just curious if anyone else feels the way I do. Or not. Happy shopping.

Yea----people in this "entitlement" society think it is someone else's responsibility....and have no clue that actions like this cause prices to raise. Just the same attitude as people that scam insurance companies-with no realization that in the big picture it costs everyone.
This is the stuff our schools should teach.

Chances are she would NOT have been receptive to your observations.
I was probably no accident that "Mom was apparently oblivious to all this."

eh, there have always been assholes.
No, they're not going to be receptive to what you have to say. I'm still tempted to say something. Don't expect me to look the other way if you want to make a giant a$$hole of yourself.

I don't think it's your position to say anything. It's up to the store employees to manage the actions of their customers. If they don't notice or don't act on it, then they are basically saying they don't care if it wastes your time as a customer. Shop somewhere else.
I know many employees at grocery stores who actually prefer that customers don't try to put stuff back. It gives them something to do and it ensures stuff goes back in the right places. I know some clothing store employees think the same.

TJ Max? You will always find the same scenario any day any hour at Kmart, Target, Walmart and the likes, especially the latest The attitude is, "The store employees get paid to clean up." This type of ill manner started at the same time when people stopped saying, "Excuse me." when they crossed in front of you.
My 5'2" aunt did tactfully say something to a kid and his over 6' tall father almost killed my aunt with his glare!

Hard to bite your tongue when you see behavior like that. I wouldn't put up with it from my kids. It's just plain disrespectful.
The problem starts with the parent. I'll bet you money you can find her complaining at home about how the kids never pick up after themselves.

You know SteveO...whether it was you or tghe store staff that said something, you guys would be viewed as the assholes in this scenario. People today have no respect for others, or others things. Its a damn shame.
I have issue with people who park in the handicap spots at my store that obviously are not handicapped.

I work daily with pre-K children age 3 through 5. I can tell you that the children's behaviors at school reflect the home environment ... there is only so many hours in a day.
