When was the last time you used a typewriter?
#1
...and why?

Have of couple of behemoth office size Brother electronic daisywheel jobs, w/ computer interface modules, tractor feeder, etc. Used to use them in the mortgage biz years ago, and they even functioned as real letter printers until lasers took over. The last major use was for typing multi-part shipping forms (Fedex, etc.). So, who uses typewriters these days, and/or what can they be used for in the face of other modern printing devices? If I can't figure this out soon, it's time for CL or ebay I guess... Thanks,

Buzz

Last time personally, about 2 years ago. But where I work still uses some for book labels and the like. Cheaper than a dedicated label printer once the difference in cost for continuous feed sticky labels is compared to individual ones to go through a label printer, especially when thousands are used each month.

Last week. It's the only way to fill out a lot of forms.

Probably over 25 years ago. I never took typing in school & was never very good with one.

Probably 2 years ago or so. Used one at my previous job to type up an occasional label.

2 yrs ago. I finally started scanning forms and filling them out with either Photoshop or Quark. Both are clumsy, but at least they do not require a typewriter.

About 5 years ago. My last major use for was typing labels and I got one of those little brother label makers. But I miss having one around for envelopes, because with my printer it's hit or miss.

Yesterday. How else do you write a check, type a file folder label, or address an envelope?

Funny, it had easily been 8 or 10 years, maybe more like 15 or more but I just used one on Thursday to add a request for signature and return to a fax cover sheet, because there was no computer available.
It was much easier than I recalled . . .
