Dang. I hope my Microsoft Harmony Remote doesn't get a virus.

I thought with the lack of OS X drivers, they already had done that a while ago.

I've had to shelve my MX Revolution since I installed Leopard, even though I downloaded and installed their latest (supposedly 10.5 compatible) preference panel.
It started out working great for a while and even added some features, but after a while, strange things began happening. Just moving the mouse would cause the app switcher function to appear on the screen and it became impossible to predict what would happen with any mouse movement or click. Really became bizarre, watching as the actions on the screen would take on a life of their own whenever I moved the mouse. I restarted on my 10.4 internal drive and found that the problems continued, which I couldn't figure out. That didn't make any sense to me. Finally, I deleted the Logitech preference panel and switched back to the bluetooth Mighty Mouse that came with my MacPro. Everything then returned to normal and has remained that way. I do miss the extra functions of the MX Revolution though, but I haven't gotten around to calling Logitech. Oh well… sigh! I hate to think what tech support would become if MS takes over.

GeneL, you could try USB Overdrive. I use that with my Logitech mouse and it works well.

Thanks M A V I C. I just downloaded USB Overdrive and have some questions about the settings for my MX Revolution. So far, most buttons are working, but there's a button beneath the scroll wheel that normally opens a Google search with any selected word(s) in a new window and I can't figure out how to set it. I accessed the developer's website just now and will read all the info in the morning when I'm not so exhausted. BTW, his name is very familiar to me. I'm sure I've used some app from him in the past. I'll post with my results tomorrow. Thanks again for the tip. I seem to remember your mentioning this before. ![]()

No problem here. I wonder whether you've got low USB power or radio interference.

No problem here. I wonder whether you've got low USB power or radio interference. Based on the buttons that do work properly using USB Overdrive, I don't think that "low USB power or radio interference" is involved. The mouse functions that were recognized function just fine. The questions I have are about the button functions that don't get a response (button click producing a reaction) in the list of buttons in the Preference Panel. I can't figure out how to set them up to work as the did using the Logitech software. MacMagus, are you using an MX Revolution and are all of your buttons functioning as before? If so, I'd appreciate a rundown on the settings. I hate to trade the great functionality and control refinements of the Logitech preferences for stability. ![]()

I got the MX Revolution after switching to Leopard so there's no "as before." Everything works. I don't use the default settings. Here's how I have it set up... ![]() Right button is set to a right-click. The Scroll Wheel is set to start in Click-toClick mode. The Scroll Wheel button makes an ordinary left-click. Thumb Back and Forward are set to Thumb Wheel is set to trigger the Page Up and Page Down buttons. Thumb Wheel button is set to show the Desktop via Expose. ... The fact that your problems continues after switching to 10.4 suggests that it's not the OS at fault. Try plugging the receiver directly into the USB port on your computer.

I think we have a communication problem??? The settings you show are using the Logitech control panel. When I used that, my setting were just like yours. The issue was that when I used the Logitech panel I had some kind of conflict that produced severely odd mouse behavior. When I switched to USB Overdrive the mouse became stable, but I can't figure out how to set up a few of the functions that were usable with the Logitech panel, namely setting the side wheel functions and the one click Google search button. Is that clear now? |
