$20 for the Touch widgets seems a little gougy, even by Apple standards, especially since Apple is including them for free on Touches from this point on, and the price and model remains the same. At the very least Apple should just sell each widget a la carte for $5. My 14 nephew for example has no use for any of the widgets except mail.

This could be another example of accounting procedures necessitating the charge for new features, as in the whole 802.11n firmware updater (debacle?). Apple works around this on the iPhone by counting iPhone sales revenues incrementally over 24 months, and I thought they were doing the same thing with the iPod touch, but perhaps not.

In a day and age where people happily pay $4 for a cup of coffee, $150-200 for a pair of sneakers and $50 for a video game? Nope.

And that's fine, but $20? The firmware update is $1.99. Why not just sell these for $1.99 per widget considering Apple is including them now as standard in new Touch sales.

Or, as long as you're still running 1.1.1 or 1.1.2, it's very easy to hack the Touch and install all those, plus Calendar and Contacts for free (and a bunch of other apps too).

Steve sticks it to early adopters yet again.
As if you didn't pay enough already for your Touch....

Another early adopter tax? Still seems steep for something that the Touch should have had from the very beginning.

twenty bucks is 'sticking it' to early adopters? Hardly.
That's less than a parking ticket where I live. You can hardly buy a decent lunch for two for twenty bucks.
Those of us who used hacks and bootlegs are crying fake tears, this stuff is easy-access for anyone who wants to take the trouble, it's the "principal" of the thing, right?
I'll lend ya twenty bucks man! I spent less than that on dental floss last year.

have you priced some of the iPod accessories lately?
