I watch Lost pretty closely... but I must have not paid enough attention last night. What was with the book that was for sale? I missed the significance.
Thanks

It was from the ship that is grounded on the Island, (the one where they got the dynamite)

Thanks for that. I was in the kitchen when the auction was going on and missed the book. I kept seeing it mentioned in other threads about Lost and I haven't had time to re-watch that part of the episode.

The Hanso family (Alvar) formed the Hanso Foundation which is behind the Dharma Initiative. The seller of the book was a 'Tovar' Hanso - not sure who that is within the family. The fact that the family has been the sole possessor of the book (since it was liberated from pirates) written by the 'only survivor' of the Black Rock would mean that the Hanso family has knowledge of the true fate of the ship and it's location, which probably is the reason behind Dharma being on the island.
Widmore (the winning bidder, Penny's father) fronts Widmore Labs and Widmore Construction among other entities so he may a rival of Hanso. Which might explain his interest in the book after it had been in the hands of Hanso. Just an observation. |
