This post on Ben Stein is so brilliant it deserves it own.

He is such a brilliant man. World class economist, lawyer and yet amuses everybody and himself with "Bueller" and "Beat Ben Stein." Just finished his book on Junk Bonds, "A License to Steal." One of the most astounding books I have ever read. I knew the story but never realized even today the publicity machine coming out of some Ivy League schools that continued to generate lies that convinced me. I cannot ever remember a near 100% change of mind.

Give them credit. It was a small group out of Harvard that pierced the Milliken shield of amazing lies. It continues today.

True brilliance. Yet what a guy to have some yuks with.

I put him near the top of intelligence.Conservative. Of Course. Name me a brilliant liberal economist.

Buffet after getting there has gone to the dark side but it did not get him there with Berkshire Hathaway.

He'll never be forgiven for giving birth to Jimmy Kimmel, nor should he be.

I thought he was a pretty bright guy, too, as a pop economist and public figure (and particularly enjoy Ben's early loyal allegiance to Richard Nixon, re: the famous letter, filled with the earnest passion and moist sincerity of a boy scout) until Ben unveiled himself as a creationist-theory advocate, posturing as a victimized, persecuted Christian.

But now that I realize he's actually given birth (I didn't even know Ben was pregnant) to someone, a biologically rare thing for a male to do, I suppose it's understandable that his view of evolution and creation are different than the rest of us.

Ben Stein is a liar!

That was not his money people were winning!

Name me a brilliant liberal economist

The economy is non-partisan. Although "the rich get richer" is generally true, and rich people are generally conservative (in that status quo kinda way).

His creationist stance is about as non-brilliant as you get. Its completely unforgivable.

Then again, judging by what you have to say about Warren Buffet, you're approaching this with your own partisanship. Us vs. them!

...and yet, completely understandable.

A guy gets to a certain age... juvenile practical jokes become fun again.

Come over here and pull my finger. Gee, how did the top come loose on the salt shaker? Watch this totally serious film. I've got your nose...

Just goes to show how some people can be really gifted in certain areas, and surprisingly retarded in others. Genius in some ways, stubbornly superstitious in others.

Example (an actual genius) Sir Issac Newton.

The Law of Gravity. A historic contribution to science, no doubt. But Newton also believed some pretty bizarre and unscientific things. He was a follower of the Occult. He had weird ideas about gold, and sex. Newton believed the menstrual blood of whores has magical properties. These are just a few of his understandably less popular theories.

Can't be smart in every area, that's for sure...

You mean it doesn't?

Guess I'll have more room in the fridge for beer, then.

It's a fineable offense to chill beer in Europe isn't it? Next you know he'll be icing the red wine. How long before he earns personna non grata status and asked to remove himself to Amsterdam?
