I'll go one better: Hollywood, STOP REMAKING MOVIES THAT ARE ALREADY CLASSICS!!! These movies are classics because they are extraordinary achievements in the art of motion pictures; remaking them will only make the new version suffer in comparison.
I'd love for Hollywood to only produce original works but not even in my most naive moments do I think that will ever happen so I'll offer a compromise: Remake the movies that sucked. Frequently decent stories are ruined by bad direction, bad acting, absurdly low production values for the material, or any combination of the aforementioned problems. Remaking these movies will give their stories a second chance, and chances are extremely good that the new versions will be far superior to the originals.

I thought the Jeff Goldblum fly remake was better than the original, though Vincent Price's is surely a classic. But a second remake? Gah.

They should at least wait 40 years before doing a remake. Another The Fly remake now is absurd. I suspect Hollywood is out of ideas.

"Hairspray" boggles my mind. It's a movie adaptation of a Broadway musical adaptation of a movie.
