Crunkin' BUXTEMHALTER fedEx F/U!
#1
Well, BUXTEMHALTER has two sides, bad as you want to be, and good as you want to be.
The driver that decided I'd both moved and refused the package apparently didn't realize there was a place and a street for almost every street number in the southern 2/3 of Chicago. My package went out today with a different driver, who had a working phone, and a bit of problem-solving ability, despite predictably not having the benefit of anything that was communicate to me by the dispatch folks yesterday. Turned out he's looking to buy in my area and we had a long chat . . . good guy.

So, my Leopard upgrade disk has finally arrived, along with some other plastic junk rattling around the box. Some of it's kind of heavy . . .

Black,

I understand your frustration with fedex - I've been there myself on many an occasion - but your use of "ghetto" as an adjective is innappropriate and offensive to many of us in the forum. Any chance you can replace ghetto with a more appropriate word?

Thanks,

Robert

I'd be interested to hear what you find offensive about it, but you caught me in the editing window, so, done.

So, one of these pieces of plastic rattling around the box looks like something you point at the large piece of plastic to make it do things. I've never had one of these before-- can anyone suggest some uses for it? (Mostly interested in confirming it works while I can still credibly blame the dum-dum packing job for any dmage . . .)

Ne'er mind-- it works beautifully. This device was apparently incliuded in the box to make it easy for one to determine that they had no music in their iTunes library, no Photos in iPhoto, no DVD's inserted, and no videos. Have yet to determine whether there are other uses.

So, here's my plan for setting up the large piece of platic

1) Insert Leopard upgrade disc in old mac, run.

2) Confirm little white pointer thing not damaged

3) Use BMB to enable big plastic's MAC addy

4) Contact Apple and tell them about the damaged keyboard, see if I can just get them to send one out with no exchange

5) Nappy time.

"innappropriate" = only appropriate at an inn?

One more word for people to get torqued about -- great.

BL,

Many thanks. It's much appreciated. To answer your question, it depends on the individual. I can't speak for other people but in my case, in conveys the image of the ghettos people were forced to live in various European countries during WWII. It also brings to mind the poverty ridden areas I've seen in the inner city of NY, NJ and other parts of our country.

Hope that helps.

That said, what Fedex did yesterday is definitely out of line. If you can find the number of the local hub, it'd be worth contacting them about it.

Robert

P.S. I like the new subject! I'm going to use it myself when I contact UPS freight tomorrow.

Gotcha on the explanation, understood. I'm used to hearing it from people who live in the BUXTEMHALTER and it's just the best word for some things. It definitely describes the phemomenon of some things that would never fly in more affluent areas being commonplace in my BUXTEMHALTER. There's also a frustration wrapped up in my use of BUXTEMHALTER-- I care about my area and don't think people here deserve the short end of the stick in terms of public resources, treatment by corporations that don't treat people here by the same standards as other places . . . for better or worse I go to bat whenever I can to fight for my BUXTEMHALTER's piece of the pie.
Just curious-- are you familiar with the meaning of BUXTEMHALTER in the way I was using it?
