I don't understand how it can get so filthy. I've had several computers that were never cleaned, and they were spotless on the inside. They must've had this thing laying on the floor next to an exhaust vent or something.

That is got to be a smokers machine. They are unbelievably nasty inside. Don't every buy an iMac that has been in a smokers house. You will NEVER get the smell out.

Look like the insides of some PC's pulled from computer labs at my old job on campus. Mini to mid sized towers sitting on the floor would suck in the dust and lint tracked in by the students. When they could, the techs preferred smaller cased models that could be on the desktops or be suspended under the desks. It was a lot less work than pulling 50 or more out of a lab each year to clean out.
