Ah, crap. My TV converter coupons have expired.
#1
For some reason I thought they expired at the end of June and that I had plenty of time. After reading the thread below, I figured I'd better take them out to remind myself, and noticed they expired May 26th. D'oh! I tried to use them at Circuit City this evening and explained the situation. He was willing to try, and rang up the boxes and it looked like the sale was going to go through until the very end, when it rejected the coupons. Not something the manager can override, either, as it is a gubmint thing.

I know what the website says, but has anyone attempted (and succeeded) in getting them re-issued?

(P.S. I'm still not sure I'll even need them as Comcast keeps advertising that as long as you have cable TV service, you'll still be able to use your older TV. I thought you'd need either their cable box or one of these other converters. We do have one set top box for the new HDTV, but for all the others we just connect the coax into the back of the TV and pick up the analog stations from Comcast. I get the impression they're saying that won't change, in which case I don't have to be concerned about the coupons at all.)

If Comcast changes it, that's their decision and has NOTHING to do with the over-the-air digital transition.

Comcast's only obligation is to carry the OTA channels either in analog format (as they are doing now for you), or to provide you with cable boxes to receive the OTA channels.

The converter boxes are only useful to convert the digital over-the-air transmissions to an analog format for older TV's. If you only have cable service and don't have or plan to get an antenna, the converter box will be useless to you.

My downstairs neighbor tried to get coupons and was told she couldn't because they'd already been issued to this address (me).
Anyone know a way around that?

I wonder what they will do with all the unredeemed funds for this.

Pretty sure mine are expired too. Main reason I got them was to make sure my dad had one for his house. AFAIK he never ordered any for his address so I guess he can still do it himself, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't know much about it yet.

We got two coupons. Used one to get a converter box at our local Radio Shack. We were saving the other coupon until a better converter came along. Well, it expires this month also.

BL, your downstairs neighbor can have it if she can persuade the salesperson.

What. march in there with no coupon and talk the salesperson into giving a $40 discount?
