'Dancing With the Star's' Tatum O'Neal Busted for Cocaine
Actress has struggled with drug addiction since childhood
Tatum O'Neal's drug problems are still going strong.
The Oscar-winning actress and "Dancing With the Stars" contestant was arrested Sunday night (June 1) in New York City for allegedly buying crack cocaine and charged with the misdemeanor of possession of a controlled substance, reports People.
The 44-year-old made the purchase around 7:30 p.m. on Clinton Street before authorities took her and the drug dealer, Allen Garcia, to be booked at Manhattan's 7th precinct. The two will be arraigned Monday.
According to The New York Post, O'Neal reportedly told officers, "You know who I am, right? [I'm] researching a part/ I'm doing this for a part as a junkie," later adding, "Can't we just forget about this?"
O'Neal, who at 10 became the youngest Oscar winner for her supporting turn in "Paper Moon," detailed her rocky life and drug addiction in her memoir "A Paper Life." She was supposedly clean after completing rehab in 1996.
The ex-wife of tennis star John McEnroe, she's been seen on TV as Maggie, the sister to Dennis Leary's character on "Rescue Me," a second-round eliminated contestant on "Dancing With the Stars" and the psychotic Blythe Hunter on MyNetworkTV's "Wicked Wicked Games."
