I placed an item for sale on ebay and specified the payment method was either paypal or credit card. The person who won is insisting on paying via another method and says he will put a bad mark on my ebay record if I don't accept. What are my options?

Jeez, he went ahead and left me negative feedback because I would not accept his payment method. What can I do about that?

File an unpaid item dispute. I think that's about all you can do. It'll either force him to pay, or you'll get your final value fees back and he gets an unpaid item strike. I believe with 3 of those, his account will be suspended.

I can't believe my rating is going to be lowered because of this punk that won't pay. I can't file the unpaid item claim until september the 27th. How frustrating. Thanks for the info though, I will definitely do what you suggested.

Beerman, I think you might have an out in this case. Correct me if I'm wrong someone, but, when the person says that they'll give bad feedback if the payment method is not accepted...well, isn't that feedback extortion? If so, that is something that eBay expressly forbid when this new feedback system (where sellers can no longer leave bad feedback) was implemented. You need to pursue this matter with eBay. I think they'll discipline the buyer and remove the bad feedback?

Carnos Jax is correct. EBay will remove the negative feedback when you tell them what happened. If they made the threat through the eBay message system then eBay will have a copy otherwise you might have to send them the email yourself. From what I have heard as eBay caught a lot of flak about these changes they are falling over themselves to correct problems such as yours to show that their changes are for the good. Don't wait but send something to them straight away.
Let us know how you get on and good luck

that was extortion, don't know how tough ebay is on this, but you DO have a claim.
In the future, select 'Must have paypal account' to bid. That way, this guy could not have bid (assuming he doesn't have a paypal account)

file the non-paying bidder dispute with eBay, and include that the non-paying bidder was extorting you, and include copies of the email/s that were sent to you.

Even tho a seller can't give a negative feedback score, you CAN detail what a jerk he was in the text portion of the feedback. I was looking at someones feedback the other day where the seller did just that.
You are better with contacting eBay in your situation but if all else fails you can still put something in his FB.
