Anyone Ordered Car Parts Online?
#1
Some idiot (that would be me) backed his van into his other car and broke the tail light. It's an easy fix and I'd like to order the replacement part online so I can fix it myself. Anyone have a recommendation for a reputable online auto parts store?

I Googled autopartswarehouse.com and came up with terrible reviews, so I don't want to use them.

I know of people that had good results at:

http://www.rockauto.com/

May be worth a look.

I have bought many used parts online from eBay. Of course the usual warnings apply, but I have had good results.

Rock Auto is good. Otherwise just ebay or car-parts.com to see if some place local has it.

I have ordered accessories online from the dealer at a lower price than walk in purchase and free shipping on lighter items.

carparts.com, which is JC Whitney online, may have that stuff too. Their rep has changed over the last decade or so since they went on-line, and have a lot more mainstream and reputable stuff.

I actually used autopartswarehouse last winter. We lost a fender liner for our Matrix after we lost it in a blizzard. We paid about half of stealership price and shipping was quick. Going to the stealership to get the required plastic rivets was the pain....

made out better on ebay so far than from an online parts store.

two big-ass pipes i ordered for my 77 benz didn't fit like they were supposed to, based on VIN. had to pay big $$ to ship them back, and restocking fee. never again.

Rockauto was good for my daughter's Miata. I buy most of my BMW's parts online because the stealership is so high priced. However, I usually use the specialty BMW parts places. If you have an enthusiast-type car there will probably be plenty of places that specialize in your model.
