Best stand up comedy DVD
#1
I'm leaving on a trip soon. Need to buy some good stand up comedy DVD's for the group.

Apparently, the crude and raunchy ones are fav's:

Lisa Lampenelli
Chris Rock
Dave Chappelle
Pam Anderson Roast

Any others you can recommend?

Anything by the late, great Bill Hicks.

Some samples:

These two are CLASSIC:

And hell, why not, this is a perfect into to his comedy. Multiple shows perfectly blended together. Still my favorite stand-up disc of all time:

Jim Gaffigan's Beyond the Pale isn't raunchy at all, just damn funny.

Bill Hicks, YES!

Also, Robin Williams most recent Carnegie Hall performance is the FUNNIEST thing I've _ever_ seen--I almost fell off the couch laughing!

I've seen these guys do their bits on Comedy Central within the past few months. All had me laughing.

Dane Cook

Jeffery Ross

Patton Oswalt

There seems to be a glut of stand up comedians lately. It must be difficult competing with so many in the business.

Hoooooootttttt Pockets.

Sara Silverman, Louis CK, Lewis Black, George Carlin, Richard Pryor...
The late Mitch Hedberg just put out a new CD, but there are DVD performances of his older material.

Lisa Lampenelli does comedy? I thought she just did boring auto-biography monologs. Makes comedians who must throw in the "m..f..."s and "sht" in at every other word sound like Rhodes scholars.

Makes me want to dig up some old Bill Cosby stuff.

"Colorful" language is never necessary, but occasionally it can be used for comedic effect, though it's most often abused for the benefit of the lowest common denominators.

Effective use is evidenced in this PSA- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dAUrj6Helg
