I have very fond memories and also several thousand GREAT images taken with my circa 2002 Nikon E995 camera. It was a wonderful point and shoot and had superior low light ability and great focus, something both the newish Canon and Nikon diggys I now have only have intermittently. They do shoot movies, FWIW.
I see very few E995s on eBay. Does anyone know if there was a follow-up model to the 995 that I might look for?

I think subsequent versions after the 995 were completely neutered.
What are you looking to shoot and how much?

chopper, I actually have a Coolpix 995 with many accessories (filters, etc.) at home in good condition that I haven't used in years. I would be willing to let go of it for a token sum (with shipping, of course). PM me if you are interested.

Fond memories, but actual using an 8 year old camera may make you rethink how great it IS, not was. I had one too.
If you can find one dirt cheap, maybe.

I've had a 995 for 6 or 7 years that was ideal for closeup work documenting my guitar building. It got flaky on me, so I looked around and found a Coolpix 4500 for $160 on ebay. Similar in form factor and operation to the 995, not as good a user interface, IMO, still only 4 MP, but does all the things that I liked about the 995. Any later than the 4500 and they truly are neutered, as price says, with more MP but slim feature sets.

The 995 is from 1999. I purchased one for work back then. I still use it fairly often, because the swivel allows me to shoot down live mortar tubes, and not risk having my head taken off by a premature launch.
