Hard drive recommendations for 12" PB G4 (DVI)?
#1
Looking for a replacement drive for a 12" PowerBook G4 (DVI) - gotta be IDE/ATA (not SATA), 5400RPM, 80-160 GB, fast, quiet, cool, & reliable. What drive(s) should I consider?

Western Digital Scorpio?
Seagate Momentus?
Hitachi Travelstar?
Samsung SpinPoint?
Toshiba?

Looks like our sponsor carries almost all of them...http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?Model=202&Type=Data%20Storage&sort=pop

What say you?

Whatever's on sale!

As far as I know, those are all good drives.

I always just go for whichever one is the cheapest unless you really need the 7200 RPM speed.

Are there even any 7200RPM 2.5" IDE drives available anymore? I had a hard time locating one when I last looked.

What I would do is just get the 250GB, 5400RPM Western Digital Scorpio drive. It's under $100 now and is the largest 2.5" IDE drive you can get. Works like a top in my 1.33GHz 12" PowerBook and provides a nice little boost in responsiveness over my old 4200RPM drive, not to mention about 180GB more free space.
