Our families and relatives live within a 4 hour driving. So that is as far as we go if we leave town. Even with the lower gas price, we are considering staying put and get everyone (not all at once. They don't all get along.) to come to our house instead. What are your plans?

We'll probably make reservations at the local nice restaurant where we've enjoyed T-Day dinner for the past several years. No muss, no fuss, (sadly, no leftovers), and a captive audience of family members who can enjoy uninterrupted conversation.

Staying put, most of my family is coming to visit us this year.
Great scam, eh? ;-)

We started a little tradition of our own. When we moved here 11 years ago there were other "orphan" friends that didn't want to leave town to travel back home (4 hours for us). Since we rotate locations, this year is our turn. The group has grown from eight to twelve over the years.
It's always a good reason to clean the house...

Since I just moved into a new house in September, I thought I'd break it in by having the family over here for a change, instead of everyone driving to Los Angeles for T-Day.

Staying put. Have a deadline to meet.
But I really want to spend Thanksgiving with my Dad. I am worried about him lately.

everyone is coming to our house. We're two weeks into an orgy of cleaning, painting, and otherwise trying to make it look like we live in the Perfect Palace . Sheesh. Oh well, at least the kids are finally picking up their junk.
My lovely wife, however, is in an ever increasing state of panic. And the dogs are starting to pick up on it. And I am too. We're all barking and biting. Sigh.

One of the best Thanksgivings we ever had was when we lived in Oman (1992 - 1995). There was an American ship in port so we invited nine sailors to come to dinner. We planned to give them a tour of the area after dinner, but all they wanted to do was sit in comfortable chairs, pet the cats, and watch TV.
