FiOS upgrade "Extreme HD and 20/5 internet for $79.99"

FiOS has some new service plans for new and existing customers, I just changed from my "premier TV" and 15/2 package to the "Extreme HD" and 20/5 internet package for $79.99. (That's 20mbps download and 5mbps upload!)

Of course set-top-boxes and DVR's are extra, but I am now getting dozens more HD channels, faster internet, and added all the movie channels for about the same price as before!

I am a little peeved that they did not automatically upgrade me to this "extreme HD" package because it would actually cost less then what I had before without the movie channels. But, I was able to effect the changes via their online support chat service, very easy and fast.

I am really enjoying the HD movies on my new TV. Regular DVD's just do not look that great in comparison, and I can record them to the DVR too.

So if you have FiOS now definitely look into this new plan, you can save money if you have any restraint. "Extreme HD plus 20/5 internet for $79.99 a month". HD-DVR boxes are 12.99 a month extra. I get an additional SD-box for free too. Movies are $14.99 a month extra. I might drop that to save a little more cash but right now it's great.

(and sorry to everyone who doesn't have FiOS, I know there are a lot of you, but one day Verizon will come to save you... I hope). :-)

I've been in a few homes that have Fios, and it is impressive, but I really, really hate Verizon. I suppose I might be able overlook how much I loathe Verizon if I could keep my Earthlink broadband service, but as far as I know, I can only do that through Time Warner right now.

You can get just the TV service, but I don't think it would be as much of a deal then.

Well, keep in mind that you cannot share over port 80 with FiOS, and HD cable is probably more $ also.

What was your total bill before the switch?

I have FIOS HD w/DVR box + FIOS internet 20/5 and i'm paying around $120(??) a month. After my initial one year promo offer they really jacked up the rates on me.
