Just curious...
Do you think the people who make such sites bathe in bile and hate or just step on it in the street and forget to wipe their shoes?

The problem I have with Rush Limbaugh is that he is SO biased I can not listen to anything he says without a LARGE feeling of doubt. His message is SO far to the right that he probably alienates republicans who are actually trying to help this country. Just because you have a soapbox and call people names does not make you correct; his message has more to do with destroying than rebuilding.
He does nothing positive for our country; he only spreads his message, where, sure, a smallish percentage of Americans believe (I say smallish as I consider him extreme to one side, just like I consider Bill Maher extreme to the left) but I don't hear any constructive solutions coming from him. None. I am a little tired of his "my way or the highway message" he has been pounding on for years about. If you boil down his message, it is just hateful of most Americans. I turned on CNN this afternoon when I heard him say "we (republicans) don't hate anyone". I almost choked.

He is so far to the right? Are you saying he's further right than the Evangelicals? Or the right to lifers? Rush Limbaugh probably has the best handle on what conservatism really is than anyone in the country right now. Smaller government, lower taxes, equal opportunity, individual freedom (and responsibility), the importance of our founding documents and so much more. He spoke to it all.
He spoke about the goodness of America and it's people. He waved the flag (which liberals seem afraid to do). I think the one thing he said that liberals hate is that while we are all granted equal opportunity to achieve we are not all guaranteed the same results.. That in an effort to raise the plight of the poor we don't need to punish or tear down the rich. He wants everybody to be rich. He wants everybody to succeed. It has been the competitiveness and daring that has brought prosperty. I liked his story about kids playing soccer where they can't keep score because some kids might feel like failures or get their feelings hurt. But the kids DO keep score. They know it's about winning and losing. That's what the real world is all about. What is wrong with that?

Let me clarify; there are some in this country that are further to the right than he is, some MUCH further (Evangelicals, various militia movements, separatists) but what they don't have that HE has, is the large audience that follows his thoughts.
I am saying that he gives no room to disagree with him, in that if what you believe does not jibe with EXACTLY what he says, that you are somehow un-American. He is very charismatic (to some) and he lulls these people into believing what he says, and the only way to continue is that to completely destroy the others. On one hand he talks about how he wants his side to win (me, foolishly thinking for a moment that his side is America) and then he fires off some hate speech (there is no other phrase for this) about another American with different ideas on how to help things improve for us all. Neither he, NOR DO ANY ANY OTHER GROUP, hold monopoly rights to the flag, which I DO wave, nor do they hold all of the "love of their country" cards. You, or anyone else in this country SHOULD get rewards for hard work, no argument there. The issue that I have is that few are given the tools to work hard as public schools are underfunded and even if you work hard, if you are poor in this country, the deck is stacked against you. I know this as many friends I had growing up, ended not going to school because the local public school school was dangerous (drugs, gangs, fights) and the teachers were teaching to 35-40 students per class; this back in the mid 80s - it is probably worse now. I do NOT believe his message is equality but everyone for themselves. He does not give 2 whits about most people. I have not problem with kids playing soccer and keeping score; they should, as it would make them reach for a goal (no pun intended) and work together. The problem is that he is going on and on about how "we are the good guys" and "we are the party of compassion" when you can list many examples of those statements being lies (as well, I am sure, you can find statements defending your views about democrats getting caught in fibs). In many ways, his beliefs about people being "entitled" are no more disgusting than I see that people "hoarding" as has happened to the other extreme. There is some middle ground here, but you will never hear it from him. With all of the money he makes, of course he is up in arms. He is pissed, not for the people who actually work hard for a living, but for multi-millionaires such as himself. Don't fool yourself; he cares less for America than you think. For as much as I though Bush was a poor leader, I never, EVER wished Bush to fail, as Rush has said repeatedly about Obama. We are all in the same boat and if our leader fails, it does us all no good (except those who can afford it).

He says what he believes and those who agree with him listen to him. He did not start his program by running focus groups to see what people want him to say. People who despise him are often caught in a quandary. He is supposedly so far on the fringe that nobody could possibly listen to him and yet none other than the president of the United States pits himself personally against a man that nobody apparently listens to. Can't have it both ways. Incidentally, the GOP this time went with a candidate that Rush despised and lost big. What does that tell you? |
