I hate the ESC

So my claim was refused based on a "prior disqualification". What does that mean? Who knows. Sounds like a Time Machine error.

I finally called the main office in Raleigh (the only number that DIDN'T give me a busy signal) and the woman explained to me that it looks like I haven't worked since 2001 and that I needed to provide proof of employment.

Ok. So here is where it gets weird. When I applied recently for benefits (online) I received a letter from the ESC showing my last THREE employers going back to APRIL of 07. So how is it that i get provided with a letter FROM the ESC showing me working, but they disqualify me b/c they show that I haven't worked since 01?

I just spoke to a nice man at a DIFFERENT phone number who was VERY helpful. He actually laughed when he saw the disqualification (as it dated back to 2001). He removed it and told me I'd be getting one of their famous debit cards in about 2 weeks. With several weeks of UI already loaded on it. Now I just have to hold out until then.

On a side note. He was complaining b/c first, his computer was taking forever to send a job to the printer. Than complaining about how slow the printer was. He explained that he was in the army where he had the fastest everything. Now he is in a state government office...at the other end of the spectrum.

That reminds me of when I moved to Raleigh in 1979 from NY, and went to get my NC Drivers License. I really could not believe that they used a manual typewriter to put your name/address on the license. The NY DMV was using computers long before then.

every state calls it something different. Washington is Employment Securities Division. ESD.
