This seems like a good deal. It's only $50 more than 1.33GGz w/ 256MB:
Original price: $1,299.00
Your price: $1,049.00
Refurbished iBook 14-inch 1.42GHz SuperDrive
512MB memory (DDR333 SDRAM)
60GB Ultra ATA hard drive
ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 (32MB DDR video memory)
Built-in AirPort Extreme
Built-in Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
Scrolling Trackpad
Sudden Motion Sensor
Or is this a normal price? I haven't checked Amazon.com or SmallDog.

They already have iMacs with Intel. That was quick for them to show up as refurbs.

I thought you were referring to what's going on in the political forum here.

I just wish they'd drop the price of the Quad a bit. After paying tax, you'd be a lot better off buying one new from Amazon with the rebate.

trisho, yeah, that is the "normal" refurb price for that machine. I think it's a nice deal on a machine that will likely give you a good four to five years of high productivity and few headaches. If I were in the market for an iBook, I'd grab it. It's like getting an AlBook except it's a little more solid:
SD
1.42ghz
DDR333 RAM
Plus the icing on the cake:
BT
AP
Scrolling
SMS
I have an iB 900/60/640/AP/Combo that came loaded that way for something like $1099 two years ago...it was the closeout model at the time. This model you are looking at is leagues ahead of that one but for the same 32mb VRAM. But 32 beats the crap out of the 8 I had on my Pismo...and is actually pretty decent for video.
Keep in mind that new iBooks will likely be intro'd in about two weeks. If you can wait, I would. The price might go down on these refurbs by $50 or so if that matters at all to you. But it won't likely go down for a few months. Three months to six months from now you'll see this machine for about $899-999 refurb.
