So about that ipod nano that I won...what to do?
#1
So, over 3 months ago, I won an ipod nano. One month went by. No word on my prize! I emailed. Response was "we're still waiting for it to come in." 2 more months go buy & I was getting ready to send another inquiry when, lo and behold, the radio station called! YES! Amazingly enough, the ipod nano was IN!

I picked it up yesterday. It's an 8 gig green nano, new in box. I have an ipod classic. I have an iphone. This little nano is SO very pretty. It's as if it's begging me to open the package and play with it.

So tempting but...alas, I have no need for another ipod and I could really use the money.

If I sell it (ebay or craigslist), what could I realistically get for it? If I can't get at least $100, it's probably not worth my while to sell it. I looked at the local craigslist and it's difficult to tell if anyone's been getting $100+ for 4th gen nanos.

If I don't sell it, I could give it to my dad for his birthday (Friday) even though he's not much of a music fan, doesn't have a Mac running at least 10.4.11 (min Mac requirement), does have an XP laptop and probably wouldn't use it much, if at all.

I could keep it. But then what? If I were to keep it, I can't see myself using it much.

It had been previously mentioned that I could try taking it to the Apple Store to see if I could exchange it for something else.

In short, I'm at a loss for what to do with this poor little nano. Half of me says it would be a sin to give it up; the other half says I wouldn't use it, so why keep it?

What to do?

Steph,

I would love it if my daughter gave me an iPod loaded with my favorite music, Car Talk, a thoughtful book on disk, or the likes of that.

Don't think of the hardware, but what is on the hardware!

With a full Apple warranty, the price has gotta be at least $100.

Use it as a dedicated music player for your car... We have a DLO dock in the Subaru and and older 2nd gen 4GB Nano that has nothing but "Driving" music and a couple of books on it. I don't worry too much about someone breaking in to steal it (I can always toss it into the console if I'm in a bad neighborhood) and it holds plenty of music without any commercials
