Monitor Purchasing Decision Help: Dell S2209W & S2309W
#1
Hi all,

I'm looking into purchasing a new monitor in a couple of days and I am looking at the following two Dell models;

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/produ....aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-7438
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/produ....aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-7339

I will be pairing it up with an early 2008 MBP and my biggest concern is that the optimal resolution for the monitors are 1920x1080. The MBP does not support that resolution and so I am wondering if this is a deal-breaker?

Thanks!

MBP will support any resolution up to 2560 X 1600

Ahh ok, thanks. I had another read over the MBP's specs and I thought what applied to the 17" did not apply to the 15".

Just get the 2408FPW.

Iron,

I wouldn't buy either. the 22" model I'd go with is the following:

This is an IPS panel - a higher quality panel than a Twisted Nematic (TN) panel. The 2209Wa is considered the best 22" display on the market right now.

Also, buy it through Dell Small Business. They're offering 10% off on displays. If you're a member of AAA, you can get an additional 6% off.

I actually ordered one of these but canceled it when I saw a great deal on the 2408WFP. If that deal hadn't appeared, the 2209WA would be on my desk as we speak.

If the 2209 Wa truly is S-IPS I would strongly second Robert's recommendation (how do you know for sure? They don't list the panel type in the specs anywhere . . .)

Black,

Dell doesn't list the type of panel used in the 2209WA but other sites have determined it's IPS.
