Ahh... Dual DVI and 128 MB of video VRAM. Total price: $54.45 shipped
(This is, I guess, Revision 2 of the 9600 XT, it's RV351 and has the dual DVI. I think Revision 1 was RV350 and had ADC and DVI).
This card replaces my G4 modified Radeon 9600 with 64 MB VRAM.
I just sold a G4 modified Geforce FX 5200 on ebay a few days before for $50.
What an awesome upgrade. Now, any suggestions on what to do to test it's capabilities?
MDD G4 Dual 1 Ghz
10.4.5 and 1.75 GB RAM
Dual Gigabit Ethernet
720 GB Hard disk space (Yes, it is cramped)
USB 2.0 and 3 extra Firewire ports

Do we look any better yet?
How did you "modifiy" it? And where did you find it for that price?

Ebay, of course!
Modifying involved preventing the AGP from sending signals to pins 3 and 11 on the card. I see people do this by glue, cutting the contacts, or by taping them. My personal method of choice is to cut the traces on the card above the contacts.

(I don't know which method they use, but OWC performs the same modification to their Radeon 9600s. I just wish I could get ahold of cards as cheaply as they seem to manage.
I did get a VERY good price on this card. Of course, after I got this card, another card went off the day after for almost the same price, it was listed incorrectly and didn't get any hits as it was overpriced for a 64 MB Radeon. Long story short, that card is on its way to me tomorrow for $40 shipped. Exact same card. (Well, there aren't a lot of dual dvi mac video cards. It is either a Radeon 9600 XT or a Radeon 9650, and either one is worth far more than $40.)

UT2k4 demo?
If you could do this with a 9800 pro, XT or x800 or x850 I'd be interested.

Boot into 9 and try it with Quake 3

I read a report somewhere about how someone successfully flashed a 6800GT over for the Mac. However, I would really prefer an ATI card because the driver support is a lot better in Mac OS X. I'd gladly take a x800 or x850 and say good riddance to the ultra-loud fan on my 9800 Pro.

Radeon 9800 cards from G5s can't be hacked this way. They're AGP Pro cards and actually use some data on that extension. The Geforce FX 5200 cards are AGP Pro, but the extension can just be dremeled off and they'll work with the 2 pins disabled.
PC cards are another thing entirely (And something I haven't gotten to far into yet). The people at the Strange Dogs forum have got flashes for all sorts of cards, including 9800's, X800, Geforce 6200 and 6600. I believe they've got the 6800 working, but don't care for it because it can't be made work in a cube.
I'd like to get into the PC video card flashing, but there's too much overhead for me to start in it right now. I've only got one main system to test in, and it's hard to justify buying too many cards when you only have one G4 to use them in. That, and modifying the G5 cards is just so much easier.
I'd be willing to start in on it as a service, but I'd need to talk with OWC Larry first to get permission to post about it here. (Since there'd be money involved and all).

So what card do you reccommend for a cube, 500, still all stock?
