Where things mount in /dev/ question
#1
This corresponds to my lower question:

On a CF disk or a USB drive, where in /dev would it mount so I can use dd to copy it over?

Like, I have a CF disk plugged in right now, unmounted, I want to dd the iso to the drive, how do I do it? Likewise with a USB flash drive.

What would the CF disk and the USB drive be under /dev/?

Nevermind, figured out where it's hidden.

Your questions perplex me... I used to understand your queries and think you a buffoon. Now I feel that I, myself, am clinically retarded. /dev/? Shell somethinerother?

Glad you found where it's hidden, because I don't know.

I'm just a caveman.

I'm the one who is sorry, 'chip. Sorry I didn't fall in love with 'puters 15 years earlier than I did.

Note especially the last bullet item under "Features".

One of the hallmarks of UNIX was the (at the time, unique) notion that the OS should present a consistent view of everything in the system.
