scared myself tonight

I made an offer on a piece of land tonight. It is fairly large and we'd probably build a 2600sq ft house on it, so there's $260,000 minimum plus the $80k for the land, plus development plus landscaping. Holy crap!

Those numbers are certainly enough to pucker up MY nether regions....

Congratulations... (assuming the offer is accepted, that is).

Egads.
$340K would barely buy a driveway here in Berkeley.
I'm so depressed.

Good luck to you.

That looks like more than 2600 sq ft... :-)

Sounds like a very rational investment to me...here in Ventura County you *might* be able to get by with an investment of about $1.2-$1.4Million to accomplish the same projectSmile

We already have the big house on the large lot, and it's a beautiful thing to know it's yours.
I don't know where exactly it is that you're planning this venture, but good luck to you!

Property and home values have risen here in our little bourough in western PA. However, the prices you mention - we can't even imagine! There was a large home with one of the larger pieces of land in the community (needs some work) that sold at a repo auction some time ago. It was purchased for around $20,000. They thought they could sell it and make a quick buck. No buyer. That's typical here. The nicest places I've seen is out a little ways. I thought of buying it. It's a large beautiful brick ranch on several acres of nice land. It went for an unheard of price; $90,000!

It's a small world - but - we must be in the "twilight zone!"

With that price one couldn't even buy an outhouse here in southern Cal!
Darn, I need a drink and I am not even a drinker Wink

I'm betting you are lucky enough to be living in the South?
