I just bought a pair of these from Dell for a bit over $100ea - whatta deal!

Got them installed in the mac pro (orig 2.66) and am transferring data from one to the other.

Activity monitor shows data moving CONSTANTLY btwn 85 -90MB/sec peaking just under 100.

dell had them last week (or recently) where you could get 2 of them for $200. Special is dead now.

Ken, you need to get back to checking dealmac daily... they ran this special once, then reduced the price a couple of dollars and did it again. The two deals ran for about 10 days...

looks like this deal is still running: $112 ea @ dell

hal, did you do any research on these drives or have you had good experience with them in the past? In an earlier thread, bhaveshp said he/she passed on the 7200.11 drives because of "many failures".

Anyone else hear anything similar?

yeah, I know all about that

it's a done deal - no more issues with recent firmware.

I've had one (older firmware than what I just got) and have had no problems.

vital data is backed up

I ordered 4 of the of the 1.5TB drives from Dell. None of them needed the firmware update.
