iTunes 8.2 now supports iPhone or iPod touch with the iPhone 3.0 Software Update. iTunes 8.2 also includes many accessibility improvements and bug fixes.

Likely break of competitor's product, yes.
Possible clues into new iDevice support announced next week - hopefully!

Still, I'm thinking about getting a Pre. I definitely need a new phone. I just don't want to have to sign up for a new plan so it'll be a little while before they'll let me buy one outright.
