Early in this year, I was getting great bargains left & right -mostly on photo gear. For the last 3+ months there's been nothing worth looking at.
Still finding any good deals on Craigslist?

Lots of deals but lots of noise to sit through too.
Only worth it because I enjoy it.

The supply of 5+ year old PC's and the corresponding asking price astounds me. If it uses SDRAM it has little resale value.
Not to mention the inflated asking prices for iPods (a first gen Nano is not $100).

I have no clue. There are so many postings, I never get to second base.
That is, I have not met anyone to see the goods. I keep seeing shiny objects in other posts and never follow through, fearing a BETTER deal is just minutes away. Analysis paralysis.

rarely. I use Olympus OM lenses on my Canon 40D and recently found a 40mm F2.0 along with an OM2N and three other lenses with a Zero Halliburton case for $60..but other than that not much.

Last week I bought a 1.33 GHz 12" Powerbook for $325 that, it turned out, is eligible for Apple's battery replacement program. That was the lowest price I had seen for that computer.

I do better on eBay. CL stuff (mostly computers & components, etc.) seems vastly overpriced most of the time.

I got lucky and bought two microphones for $40.00. The seller put the wrong model number in the add--the mikes turned out to be CAD e70's that retail for $250 each. He didn't have the omni capsules for them, so I didn't say anything.
And the proverbial $100.00 Telecaster--this guy was selling a perfectly good MIM so he could buy a Silvertone/Dano guitar and amp/case. He tried to tell me the Tele had recently been set up while the guitar sat there with five rusty strings. After I cleaned it up and did a proper setup, it's pretty nice. Around here, the feather merchants are creeping in.

mostly the dealers (of anything - cars, cameras, computers) have taken over.
I rarely flag but there are a lot of car dealers who regularly list as "owners." Hard to combat that, IMO. |
