AAPL has passed GOOG in Market Cap
#1
I hope that this doesn't violate the no AAPL before the closing bell, since I'm not talking about share price.

AAPL market cap is now $141 Billion
GOOG market cap is now $ 138 Billion

I still find it interesting that the notion of Apple as the beleaguered company flailing on its deathbed persists to this day. If I mention AAPL in conversation I frequently hear people say, "Apple? They're still in business?". They don't connect Apple with iPhone, iPod, iTunes, iMac somehow. When I point out that Apple has more cash in the bank than Microsoft they really start to scratch their heads. When I point out that they are the world's largest music retailer they're baffled, 3rd or 4th largest computer company yields blank disbelieving stares.

At this point they roll their eyes and mutter, "fanboy" under their breath as they walk away from you 8-)

Amazing, isn't it?

Apparently the unrelenting FUDstorm of 1996-98 got through to the terminally unaware/dense and just got stuck. The thing is, one can't make the excuse that knowledge of subsequent developments would only interest geeky types: For one thing, everyone knows Apple is beleagured. How did they acquire that notion yet fail to miss Apple's incredible rise since 1998? For another, iPods, iPhones, and iTunes are true cultural phenomena. Who do they think engendered those things? And by the way, how was it possible for anyone to miss Apple's saturation ad campaigns over the last 5 years?

It's just bizarre that people are unaware of Apple's status these days.

Oh puhleeze...anyone who still thinks of Apple as beleaguered/going out of business has obviously been held hostage in a windowless bunker in some backward country with no access to the news or trade outside of its borders. Ztirffritz, you can't be socializing with North Koreans right?
