$200 for the upgrade. I like Logic 8 pretty well as-is, but it looks like 9 adds in some of the simplicity of GarageBand in how it can improve your sound without having to know too much about what you are doing. Good or Bad.

What has me scratching my head is that the academic version at $899 is only $100 cheaper than the full retail version. It was, what, something like $499 or $699 before? Being able to upgrade from any retail version of Final Cut Pro, the standalone "Pro" app not "Studio", for the regular $299 upgrade price is a pretty good deal though.

And then here's further evidence the day of the PPC is done. Intel only.

Dangit, I guess no Logic 9 upgrade for my G5. Or maybe that means I get an Intel Mac upgrade with my Logic 9...

You are right that it was only $499 and $699, respectively - depending on the academic level you are able to sign on in.

Right now, it is only $299 showing for me - Final Cut Studio Academic (full version, no upgrade). I'm in for one, for now at least...

That makes a lot more sense, but my edu store is still showing $899. Weird. I think I'm signing in as a plain old student. I didn't know there were different 'levels'.

Will this new version help make videos more video-y and films more film-y?
