an iTunes question
#1
since I was so successful yesterday with my Mail question......

Some cuts I have of custom/library music don't retain their "Finder" name in iTunes.
Is there a way to fix that?
They're both MP3 & aif cuts.

So you want them to retain the 'Finder' name (i.e. filename)?

My guess would be that there is probably have some metadata in the ID tag of the music file that you'll need to clear out, as iTunes (and other media managers) read that information first before they use just the filename for any cataloging.

You just need to select the songs in iTunes (or select multiple)...do a Get Info on them (under the File menu) and blank out any information that might be in there (i.e. Artist, Album, etc.)

that works for that one time, but each time I drag the cut back into the library ( I know that sounds a bit whacked, but thats what I need to do.) the metadata is back

Do a "Get Info" on the file in question itself (in the finder, not within iTunes,) check the "Sharing & Permissions:"

If you're not listed as having "Read & Write" Privilege, then unlock it (using the little lock icon in the lower right) and change the settings so you are.

Then within iTunes, the changes you make in the info tab of the "Get Info" window should now stick permanently.
