I was walking home from brunch today, and, as I got to my block, I spied an utterly unusual and spectacular vehicle parked at the corner, the kind of thing you wouldn't expect to see on a Brooklyn residential street. Luckily, I had my camera, and, as fate would have it, a wonderful, fast ultra-wide angle zoom lens that I had rented for the weekend for testing.

As you might imagine, this hybrid car/motorcycle was being admired by many other Sunday strollers. Eventually its owner appeared with its removable steering wheel, re-attached it, and drove away with his girl-friend. I wondered what it would be like to drive it on the streets of New York, as its chassis appeared to be no more that 4 or 5 inches off the ground.
A little googling revealed that this thing-a-ma-bob was called a Campagna T-Rex http://www.campagnamotors.com/T-REX/intro.html , advertised with the slogan, "Street Legal, Track Worthy". Its Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campagna_T-Rex calls it a three wheel motorcycle, and is apparently the product of a company based in Quebec. It'll only set you back $54,000 or so.
Here is a web gallery with more of the photos I shot, for those who would like to gape and drool over this lovely toy. http://homepage.mac.com/laarree/Sites/ca...009_09_13/
