Not sure of the spelling. I have always had skin problems. Exzema as a child, etc. Now for the last month I have had bad head dandruff. Head itches sometimes. I have tried the Coal Tar products. Nitzarale (sp), and now a shampoo labeled for Psoriaisis. Also doctor gave prescription for some Steroid type product to put on after washing hair. Nothing seems to make it go away.
Anyone have similar problem, or friend or relative that has it.
Thanks...
Made another appt with doctor, but it is not for a month.
Will email my doctor, and try to get a canceled appt on my day off, just asking for some forum help, here.
Only GP suggested a year ago, when I had a milder case of Dandruff that it was Psoriaisis. Now dealing with Demratologist for a skin thing on nose, and been emailing him, and he treats via email and presctiptions.

Do you have a diagnosis? What kind of a doctor are you seeing? If you do indeed have psoriasis, it's an autoimmune disorder, and the symptoms are extremely variable. I don't happen to know too much about it, except that the same medication I take for my RA is also used to treat psoriasis. If you're not already, you probably should be seeing a rheumatologist. I can't tell from your post whether you're making an educated guess or really know that you have it.

Psoriasis isn't really solely about "dry skin" - as Alpha Dog mentioned it is an auto immune disease.
The skin cells are actually reproducing at an accelerated rate and then shedding and that creates
the patchy skin areas. It is also directly effected by stress levels and general all over immune system health.
Some people have good results with the topical steroid creams and when it comes to shampoo,
Nizoral works pretty well. It is now available over the counter but you need a script to
get the higher powered version.
There is also the additional side effect of Psoriatic arthritis just to add a little fun to the mix.

Some people report lessened symptoms associated with reducing wheat or milk products in their diet.

Take serious consideration of your general health, digestion issues, gluten (wheat) tolerance, dairy tolerance and allergies (environmental and food). Get your house and diet clean and simple. No junk food. No artificial anything. Get rid of dust mites, and animal dander.
Read everything you can. Be careful with steroids, as well as complicated over the counter topical lotions. Many have chemicals that cause additional problems in them. MD's tend to jump into steroids and in my experience it only helps for a short while and then there is a terrible rebound with spreading and continuous flares. If you do take steroids, follow the taper off rules and instructions.
Stress does not help.
Some people have good results with moderate exercise sun, good diet, and removing irritants. Some theories past "immune disorder" are allergies, hypothyroidism type 2, compromised adrenal function, liver and digestion function. Body toxicity is in question.
Skin issues do not creep up overnight and do not usually go away quickly either. Sometimes you get super reactive to things that never bothered you before, a sort of general toxicity overload.
For scalp stay away from sodium laurel sulfates. You might try a vinegar rinse . Dilute it if skin is irritated. Smells bad but will go away when dry. Dead sea salts in bath. Remove soaps and store bought shampoos, as well as fabric softeners, detergents and perfumes from home and clothing.
This is a complicated situation, but try not to let it get out of control.

i was going to mention diet as well.
what we eat is often ignored as a root cause of many bodily functions, both good and bad.

Get your doc to test your vitamin D levels. I saw amazing progress with my psoriasis after finding my level was way low and getting on a prescription mega dose of vitamin D.
