characters all wonky when using iMac G4, MRF and FF

when I type anything in this here box (yup, right here) using my iMac G4 running FF (don't know which version, not at machine) and 10.4.x the characters just seem to disappear and then I cannot return and correct it and it all goes downhill further.

Yes, sadly.
It is odd behavior since FF worked flawlessly until a short time ago.

'Next thing I'd try is clearing caches.
In Firefox 3.5.x they've made it difficult to simply describe the process, so here's an illustrated description: http://www.ehow.com/how_5337629_clear-ca...refox.html Make sure that the "cookies" option is not checked. ... If that doesn't work, the next thing I'd suggest is disabling add-ons.

Do you have a rogue font installed - messing up everything?
