query for mini 10v owners

I have been very pleased with my mini 10v running 10.6.1.

However, Netflix play it now movies is quite choppy. I was wondering about your experiences.

1) I only have 1 GB RAM. I have not cracked it for 2 GB, but will soon. Does that make any difference?

2) What about SSD versus hard drive? Would a decent runcore SSD give a good speed boost? (I love my runcore on my MBP).

3) What about software options like Firefox versus Safari? Some reports show a difference. As I'm posting this, I realize I have not checked the latter one out fully yet.

Let me know your thoughts/experiences.

I just upgraded my dell mini 10v to 10.6.1 & 2GB of ram - its not as bad as i thought it would be.

i doubt an SSD would help with internet video.

Safari should be a fair amount faster than firefox.

I don't have netflix but let me know if there is some other test i could do to help you judge.

I have the Mini 9 (I don't call it a "9v", I just call it a Mini 9, not sure the 'v' is needed as an identifier) and I have it loaded with RAM, and Netflix is regrettably quite choppy, I'm not aware of any fix, I assume the processor is too slow to expect smooth Netflix experience. Sometimes i can get acceptable performance, but never fully satisfying stutter-free performance viewing Netflix content.

So you have gotten SL to work on the 10v. Last I read there were still issues with trying to load it on the 10v ( I may have missed some posts).
How did you work around the issues? Or am I hijacking the post?

Many videos on my DM9 with Ubuntu 9.04 and 2GB RAM and a Dell 16 GB SSD are choppy. The processor is a rather light-weight CPU and, I'd guess, likely the cause.

This is how I did it:
Mini 10v Snow Leopard with A06 firmware

After SL loaded on drive and retarted, I got a gray screen on my iMac, with the SL DVD trying to boot. I disconnected the Dell drive, restarted, ejected the DVD, reconnected the Mini HD, chose it as the start-up drive in System Preferences, then restarted and did all updates.

Reinstalled it in the Mini 10V, started up, got 1 KP, restarted, followed the rest of the instructions, and everything seems to work fine.

I use the most recent Netbook Bootmaker and Netbook Installer files.

Took about 2 hours total...

My Dell mini 10v came with older firmware, so my SL install was smooth sailing.

Just installed 10.6 onto USB jumpdrive, used bios settings to choose usb to boot, installed 10.6, shut down and pulled usb drive before rebooting. Might have had to reset bios to choose hard drive to boot, but that may not even be necessary.

When I installed the 10.6.1 update, I then rebooted from the usb drive and installed the netbook software to make the hard drive OS operational.

Frankly, I've had tougher problems with Apple hardware mac os installations. Takes about 10 min of your time and about an hour real time to do this.
