Ethernet network: is this kosher?
#1
Will this work?

Cable modem to hub/switch to (among other things) Time Capsule. With computers connected (wirelessly) to Time Capsule and (wired) to hub/switch.

Or, how about cable modem to Time Capsule to hub/switch? Would one be better than the other?

I know the Time Capsule has a three port switch built in. I want wireless and wired connections to more than 3 computers/printers.

Cable modem to Time Capsule to hub/switch. More precisely, to a switch.

Thanks.

Can I ask why?

Any device downstream from the router will be managed by the router. Anything upstream won't.

Thanks for the info.

So no problem with that setup? Won't screw up Time Machine backups on computers attached to the switch?

Shouldn't be any problem at all. As long as TC sees the computers downstream, TM should be able to find your TM backup disk.

Only kosher if it was prepared correctly. Wink

Only kosher if you have two networks. One for incoming data, and one for outgoing. You know, you don't want to let them touch each other!
