Would you expect a refund?

...on an item bought from craigslist that turned out to be incompatible with your system, or would you fault yourself for not doing proper research?

Item was delivered exactly as promised. Discuss.

I would fault myself and no one else.

It's not the seller's fault. If they refunded your money, that's above what I would expect from a craigslist transaction.

I would not expect ask for a refund. I would try to re-sell it.

I would accept the responsibility of having to resell it.

In my state, all sales are AS-IS unless explicitly stated.

Most retail stores have more than generous return policies that they aren't legally obligated to offer, but when you buy used it'll be as-is unless otherwise stated.

You can call the guy you bought it from and maybe offer some money for his troubles to take it back and resell it, but he's under no obligation to do so. You'll probably be better off selling it yourself unless you overpaid for it.

Are you the buyer or seller of this item? Is someone hitting you up for a refund?

Another thing to add to the mix is whether there have been other responses to the Craigslist ad. The seller might consider taking the item back if it would be easy to resell, or to forward the names of other potential buyers to the unhappy new owner. The seller might also consider charging a "restocking" fee for a taking the item back.
